I read last night in a thread that was arguing whether the birdsmouth should be less than a 1/3 or 1/4 of the boards width. The birdsmouth depth in my rafters is closer to 1/2.

The roof covers about 200sf of deck, and at a 4 or 5 pitch with overhangs, is about 480sq of surface. It’ll be shingles on OSB or plywood (thickness still undetermined).

Aug 27, 2020 · The solution I went with is bolting through the cinder blocks - CMU (Concrete Material Unit) with 1/2" HDG carriage bolts, using 1/2" spacers to stand the board off the wall to allow air between the wall and board, and I used 1/8" 3"x3" plates as a washer on the back side.
