Vinay Prasad, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's top vaccine regulator, is returning to his post less than two weeks after the White House had him ousted.

WASHINGTON, DC – Dr. Vinay Prasad has been reinstated to a senior position at the Food and Drug Administration, according to an August 9 statement from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This comes less than two weeks after the White House pushed for his removal,

The word from the FDA is that Prasad has come back at the request of the regulator's Commissioner, Marty Makary, who appointed Prasad to the CBER position in May. Endpoints first reported his return on Saturday, and that was confirmed by the FDA shortly thereafter.
