The University of North Texas Health Science Center had dissected, studied and leased out the bodies of hundreds of people, even as some families searched for them.

Tarrant County commissioners voted to end a contract with the University of North Texas Health Science Center “as fast as humanly possible” after NBC News reported that the Fort Worth graduate school had used hundreds of unclaimed bodies for research and sale around the country.

Despite the bodies being labeled as “unclaimed,” reporters were able to find family who were still looking for their loved ones.

In response to reporters' investigation, the University of North Texas Health Science Center suspended its body donation program and fired the officials in charge.
