Maria Montesino, 42, told a bank teller at the Grow Financial Federal Credit Union in Tampa that a man was outside with a bomb, according to police.

Investigators are searching for a woman who they said robbed a Tampa bank before taking off Tuesday afternoon.

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Police are searching for a woman who allegedly robbed a bank Tuesday afternoon in Tampa. Police were called at about 2:40 p.m. to the Grow Financial Federal Credit Union on North Oregon Avenue after a woman entered the bank and demanded money from a teller, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Castle Rock Police Department assisted Edgewater police and eventually took the suspect into custody in Castle Rock – 31.6 miles away from the bank. Police said there was no threat to the public.

The suspect was nabbed by awaiting officers after he allegedly stepped out of the bank with envelopes containing cash.
