The Indian stock market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, rallied 1% each on Friday, ahead of the presentation of Economic Survey 2025 report in the Parliament today.

Indian stock markets moved higher during the trading session on Friday, ahead of the Economic Survey, which shall be presented in the parliament later today.

Among the Sensex constituents, Larsen & Toubro gained 4.31% after reporting a 14% increase in consolidated profit after tax to Rs 3,359 crore. Nestle rose 4.25% following its announcement of Rs 688.01 crore net profit for December 2024 quarter.

Indian equity benchmarks, the Sensex and Nifty, opened slightly higher ahead of the Economic Survey 2025 and in line with gains in global markets on Friday. Investor optimism is building as attention shifts to potential catalysts in the upcoming Union Budget.

Sensex and Nifty50 extended gains for the fourth session, driven by pre-Budget optimism, GDP growth projections, a tech stock rebound, and RBI rate cut expectations. The BSE market cap surged by ₹5.47 lakh crore to ₹423.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,438 level, a premium of nearly 20 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The stock market opened in the red as trading began on Thursday, January 30, 2025, with consumer durables, auto, and IT stocks falling the most. At 9:20 am IST, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 75.
