A deadly and historic November snowstorm paralyzed parts of South Korea on Wednesday, as heavy snow warnings led to widespread power outages and flight cancellations.

The worst November snowstorm in half century has hit Seoul, grounding hundreds of lights countrywide and disrupting commuter traffic in the capital.

The unseasonal storm has caused significant disruptions in South Korea, grounding at least 220 flights and delaying others at airports nationwide.

South Korea’s weather agency said 20 to 26 centimeters (7.8 to 10 inches) of snow fell in northern areas of Seoul and nearby areas. The agency said it was the heaviest snowstorm Seoul has experienced in November in 52 years.
