Seven Israeli citizens have been arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran on Israeli army bases and taking pictures of the Iron Dome missile defence system.

Israeli security agencies announced on Monday that they had dismantled an alleged Iranian spy ring operating within Israel, arresting seven citizens accused of gathering intelligence on military and energy infrastructure.

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the Lahav 433 unit of the Israel Police exposed an Iranian intelligence cell operating to recruit and activate Israeli citizens and arrested two residents of Ramat Gan suspected of planning to carry out an assassination attack on Iran’s behalf, Israeli media reported on Monday.

The suspects, all Israeli citizens, conducted intelligence missions for two years under the direction of two Iranian agents, the authorities said.
