Clase entered the game with Cleveland ahead 6-1 and threw a first pitch ball to Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. that was well out of the zone. The Royals scored two runs against Clase that day but lost. The X account Foolish Baseball also flagged that pitch to Witt as seeming suspicious.

However, they hit a roadblock in Missouri with a series loss against the Kansas City Royals. The Guardians split Saturday’s doubleheader but lost Sunday’s rubber match in a frustrating fashion.

Guardians update (51-51): They’ve won 11 of their last 14 games after going 3-1 against the Orioles. Steven Kwan (.346, four RBI) and Kyle Manzardo (.294, two homers, six RBI) have hit the Royals well this year. Bibee is 1-0 against K.C. this year, while Williams is 2-1 in his last five starts against them.

The club announced that Friday's series opener was postponed due to inclement weather. Heavy rains arrived around 5:10 p.m. Central and both teams were notified that the game will be rescheduled as a part of a split doubleheader on Saturday.
