Double Olympic badminton champion Viktor Axelsen cruised to his maiden Hong Kong Open title on Sunday, defeating China's Lei Lanxi 21-9, 21-12.

Two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark breezed past China's Lei Lanxi to win the Hong Kong Open badminton championships in Hong Kong on Sept. 15. Second-seeded Axelsen took only 16 minutes to secure the first set 21-9. Although he fell behind 5-3 in the second, he quickly regained his form and sealed the victory with a score of 21-12.

Viktor Axelsen becomes first Danish player to lift men’s singles title in city since Peter Gade in 1997. Han Yue confirms rising-star status.
