Oklahoma Death Row prisoner John Hanson is granted a temporary stay of execution Monday. Oklahoma County District Judge Richard Ogden granted the stay after Hanson's attorneys filed a lawsuit claiming that a May 7 clemency hearing violated Hanson's rights and requested the stay of execution until the matter is resolved.

The execution of a convicted murderer who has escaped death twice is back on. The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals ruled 4-0 Wednesday, June 11, that John Fitzgerald Hanson should not have been given a temporary stay.

John Fitzgerald Hanson, 61, was pronounced dead at 10:11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.
