Pelicans sign Elfrid Payton to shore up injured lineup
Point guard Elfrid Payton has signed with the New Orleans Pelicans, the team announced Wednesday. Payton, the No. 10 pick in the 2014 draft, went to training camp with the Pelicans and rejoins the team after recent injuries to starting guards Dejounte Murray (fractured hand) and CJ McCollum (right adductor soreness).
Elfrid Payton, a Gretna native who was with New Orleans during training camp, has agreed to a deal with a Pelicans.
The Pelicans are in dire need of a point guard, and on Wednesday, they decided to sign Elfrid Payton amid their injury woes.
