Pittsburgh Steelers return man and offensive playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson announced via social media Monday that he was released one day before Pittsburgh is set to have its first full padded practice.

Veteran utility player Cordarrelle Patterson said the Steelers released him on his day off. The 34-year-old Super Bowl champ, nicknamed “Flash” for his speed and versatility on the field, jokingly called himself “washed up” in a tweet that revealed the news on Monday.

Patterson spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, averaging a useful 4.2 yards per carry but garnering only 44 touches for an offense in dire need of playmakers. It's a rough world out there for 34-year-old running backs. Per Patterson, it got a bit rougher Monday.
