The Rajinikanth movie, released on August 14 to mark the superstar's 50th year in the industry, enjoyed a record-breaking long weekend at the Indian box office.
Coolie and War 2 released in theatres on August 14, with the former led by Rajinikanth, leading significantly. On Day 1, Coolie earned Rs 65 crore in all languages, surpassing War 2's first-day collection of Rs 52 crore.
In the first five days, the Thalaivar starrer became the only release to cross the Rs 200 crore mark, marking its strong hold over the box office numbers. By Day 6, Coolie collected Rs 9.51 crore, pushing its total to Rs 216.01 crore nett, while War 2 trailed behind at Rs 192.85 crore.

As per early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Coolie's box office collection on day 6 stood at Rs 9.50 crore. Coming to Coolie's box office collection on day 1 and 2, the movie minted Rs 65 crore and Rs 54 crore, respectively. Coolie was released in 4 languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie marks Rajinikanth's 171st film. The movie also features Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Sathyaraj in key roles. Aamir Khan will make a cameo appearance in the film. Coolie is produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures.
