Mad About The Boy is based on the 2013 novel of the same name from Helen Fielding. Just like the movie, it takes place two decades after the events of the first Bridget Jones storyline, where she is in her 50s and has been a widow for four years.

In Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, audiences watched on as Bridget was a single mother of two, and learning to live life without Mark, all with a little help from her friends and the loveable rogue Daniel Cleaver. (Yes, he's alive now.)

As Bridget belted Celine Dion in her London pad, I did the same (replacing cigarettes with a tub of Häagen-Dazs). When she decided to pick herself up and find a new job in journalism, I did the same (Bridget working as a TV presenter for Sit Up,

Mad About The Boy seemingly promises to set up an entire subplot, only for the movie to forget this new character.
