The iconic game show Hollywood Squares is making a highly anticipated return to television, complete with a fresh twist and a star-studded lineup. Produced by Drew Barrymore‘s Flower Films and Jesse Collins Entertainment,

We are here to pay homage to those that have come before us and take this show into the future,' says Barrymore, who was first inspired to reboot the game show during the pandemic.

“Hollywood Squares,” the classic celebrity game show that originally aired in 1966, is getting a modern revival hosted by Nate Burleson and Drew Barrymore, which will premiere on CBS Thursday, January 16 (1/16/2025) at 8 p.m. ET.

After Hollywood Square reboot premieres on CBS, the game show will get big exposure behind the network's telecast of the AFC Divisional Playoff Game.

Due to the ongoing tragic wildfires in Los Angeles, tonight’s premiere of "Hollywood Squares" on CBS will move to next Thursday, Jan. 16 (at 8 p.m. ET).

Hollywood Squares involves two contestants who play tic-tac-toe to win money and prizes. The “board” for the game is a vertical stack of open-faced cubes, each occupied by a celebrity seated at a desk and facing the contestants. The celebrities are asked questions, and the contestants judge the legitimacy of their answers to win the game.

CBS is postponing tonight’s originally scheduled premiere of “Hollywood Squares” a week due to the wildfires throughout the Los Angeles area. As a result, the show will now bow on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. ET instead.
