A winter storm heading toward the Tri-State area could produce heavy rain and even snow for parts of New York state, snarling travel for millions of people during the Thanksgiving holiday.

NEW YORK -- A Thanksgiving Day storm is forecast to bring rain and even winter-like weather, including snow, for some parts of New York. The storm could impact the holiday travel rush on the roads and at airports across the U.S. Our First Alert Weather team is tracking what to know about the latest timeline.

Areas of New York are forecast to be battered by several inches of snow into Saturday morning as the state is among several in the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic regions grappling with winter weather.

The good news: For those spending Thanksgiving in the Midwest, the bad weather will be gone by the holiday. The bad news: It will be centered over the Northeast come Thursday. Rain arrives in the tri-state early Thursday morning – before dawn -- so it will be a rainy parade in New York City.

Thursday will be a First Alert Weather Day as steady rain, wind and cooler temperatures arrive. Places north and west of New York City may also see some snow . Holiday travelers will catch a break Wednesday, but unfortunately they will have to navigate some wet weather on Thanksgiving.
