Severe weather warnings have been issued for "large swathes" of Wales and many other parts of the UK this weekend ahead of the arrival of Storm Bert. Described as a "multi-hazard event", the storm will bring heavy rain, snow and strong winds from early Saturday and into Sunday.

Police are asking people to only drive if necessary as Storm Bert hits the South West. The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for strong winds and heavy rain for Devon and Cornwall until Sunday evening. Hundreds of properties across Devon and Cornwall are without power, and a number of flood alerts are in place.

Storm Bert is battering the country with strong winds, heavy rain and snow and ice with amber warnings coming into force bringing a "potential risk to life and property".
