Travel disruptions are expected across the eastern half of the U.S. on Thanksgiving as a powerful winter storm moves into the area bringing heavy snow to interior portions of the Northeast, rain to the Interstate 95 corridor and severe weather to the Southeast.

A powerful winter storm packing heavy snow, rain and even severe weather is threatening Thanksgiving travel plans for millions as people across the U.S. leave home ahead of the holiday to celebrate with friends and family.

Heavy mountain snow will decrease Wednesday afternoon and end in the evening, but not before another two to six inches of snow stacks up, NWS forecasters said.
