The 'credible sighting' of a 6- to 8-foot white shark near Little Beach on Tuesday follows a handful of similar reports at southern Maine beaches this month.

The Ogunquit Fire Department says a 6-to-8-foot great white shark was spotted approximately 200 yards off Little Beach.

Lifeguards raised a yellow flag as a precaution following the credible report, the Ogunquit Fire Department said.
