After the raucous rainbow-hued festivities of Saturday’s parade, the final day of World Pride 2025 in the nation’s capital kicked off on a more downbeat note.

Demonstrators gathered in Washington on Sunday for World Pride, a bi-annual event that this year took on political overtones.

The city holds a local Pride parade annually. But this year’s event will be much bigger, as Washington hosts the WorldPride Parade, which attracts visitors from around the world. Sydney hosted it last time,

Two people were stabbed at Dupont Circle Park during Pride festivities on Saturday, a D.C. police spokesperson said. The victims are both males, but police declined to specify their ages or the severity of their injuries. Police do not have a suspect in custody. Police began evacuating the park about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

A day of celebration ended with two teens being stabbed, and one man shot near Dupont Circle Saturday evening amid Pride events.

A shooting and a double stabbing are under investigation in the Dupont Circle neighborhood amid WorldPride DC festivities in the area. It’s unclear if the incidents are related. One male individual was injured in the shooting in the 1300 block of 19th Street NW Saturday evening.
