STATE COLLEGE – Another game, another couple of records for Penn State star tight end Tyler Warren. The No. 4 Nittany Lions lead Maryland 31-7 at halftime on Saturday at Beaver Stadium.

Penn State tight end Tyler Warren continued to make some history on Saturday afternoon in Beaver Stadium. With his touchdown catch from Drew Allar late in the second quarter, Warren set a new Penn State record for the most touchdown catches by a tight end.

Tyler Warren has broken Penn State Football’s record for most career touchdowns by a tight end. Warren’s 17 career touchdowns passed Pat Freiermuth’s 16 touchdowns and Mike Gesicki’s 15 scores. Both Freiermuth and Gesicki are in the NFL and have been regarded as two of the best tight ends ever to play for Penn State.

Warren is near the end of what will likely be the most prolific career by a Penn State tight end. He has 124 receptions for 1,516 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career. He owns the school record for receiving yards by a tight end and needs six catches and one TD to hold the records in those categories.

Late in the first quarter, Penn State tight end Tyler Warren added a new record to his career resume. Warren’s first catch of the game, a 20-yard gain against the Maryland defense, moved Warren into first place on the Big Ten leaderboard for the most receptions in a single season by a tight end.

Warren once wondered whether he was good enough to play tight end at Penn State. Now, he's a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.
