Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia set a second successive Misano MotoGP pole at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix after beating Jorge Martin with a new lap record, while Marc Marquez crashed. Bagnaia and Martin traded lap records in the Q2 session at Misano on Saturday morning, but it was the world champion who prevailed with a 1m30.031s.

Francesco Bagnaia claimed pole position at the Emilia-Romagna MotoGP on Saturday, giving himself a chance to further chop Jorge Martin's slim lead in the riders' championship.

Francesco Bagnaia beat MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martin by 0.214s to claim pole position for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Factory Ducati rider Bagnaia trailed Pramac rival Martin by over three tenths of a second after the first runs as the Spaniard broke the circuit lap record with a 1m30.

Reigning world champion Bagnaia posted a stunning best lap time, 0.214sec ahead of Martin who has a seven-point advantage on his Italian rival in the championship.
