Matthew Stafford’s back injury recovery is going to be put to the test. Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters Thursday that Stafford, who is battling an aggravated disk, will participate in workouts Saturday morning. The quarterback was not a part of practice on Wednesday or the Rams’ joint practice with the Saints on Thursday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier in the week that the Rams have remained confident that Stafford would be ready for the start of the season as he deals with an aggravated disk, though the warning signs are mounting: As for treatment options, surgery has not been one of the options discussed between Stafford and the organization.
