PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Chief minister N Rangasamy announced a relief of Rs 5000 to each family ration card holders in Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions of the Union territory affected due to the impact of Cyclone Fengal.

The IMD reports a depression (remnant of Cyclone Fengal) over north coastal Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, moving west-northwest.

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy has said that a detailed report was being prepared assessing the extent of damage and will be sent to the Centre seeking relief.

Cyclone Fengal remains a severe threat near Puducherry with heavy rainfall and damage. Following its impact on Tamil Nadu, the cyclone has caused 46 cm of rain. Although Chennai airport reopened, there were many flight issues.

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry experienced severe flooding due to Cyclonic Storm Fengal. CM MK Stalin visited the Emergency Operation Centre and requested central government assistance. Relief teams evacuated residents and cleared waterlogging.
