LLOYDS Banking Group has announced it will be shutting 136 branches across the UK. It will close 61 Lloyds, 61 Halifax and 14 Bank of Scotland (BoS) branches between May this year and March 2026.

Among the Greater Manchester branches affected are the Lloyds in Farnworth, Bolton, which will close in May. The Halifax in Walkden, Salford, will be next to close in September, followed by Lloyds in Bury and Halifax in Bolton during the autumn. The Lloyds bank in Manchester Moston is then set to close next year.

The closure plan will bring the Lloyds brand down to 386 branches, Halifax down to 281 branches and Bank of Scotland to 90 branches once completed. Lloyds blamed the decision to shut the branches on customers shifting away from banking in person to using mobile services.
