A 5-year-old girl last seen leaving Kirtland Elementary School in Albuquerque on Tuesday afternoon has been found safe.

State police have located a missing 5-year-old after issuing an Amber Alert on Tuesday night. State police say Kaelani Gonzales was found safe after they say she was seen with her grandmother outside of Kirtland Elementary on Tuesday.

New Mexico State Police have issued an AMBER alert for five-year-old Kaelani Gonzales. They said she was last seen leaving Kirtland Elementary School in Albuquerque with her grandmother, Marianne Garnand,

"Every child featured in an AMBER Alert has been reported missing to law enforcement. The goal of an AMBER Alert is to instantly galvanize the community to assist in the search for and safe recovery of a missing child," Alan S. Nanavaty, Executive Director of Special Programs for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, told Newsweek.

An Amber Alert has been issued for missing 5-year-old Kaelani Gonzales Tuesday. New Mexico State Police say Gonzales was last seen leaving Kirtland Elementary in Albuquerque in a black SUV. Police believe she is with her grandmother Marianne Garnard and is in danger.
