Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold screen repair costs surge to $1,200, raising concerns about foldable phone maintenance expenses and repairability.

Foldable phones are expensive, primarily due to their folding display. This also makes them more expensive to repair, as a replacement screen can cost upwards of $500. If you own Google's second-gen foldable, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you might want to be even more careful with it, as its screen repair could cost you more than the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Following the other three phones in the series, repair parts — including the screen — for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold are now listed on iFixit.

If you paid for a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you bought an expensive phone. If you break it, it's also going to cost a lot.

While you can’t buy inner screen protectors for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you can get phone cases which should be able to absorb the shock of a drop better than the phone’s chassis alone. And bear in mind that the non-dust proof devices shouldn’t be taken to the beach, or anywhere particularly dusty.

The genuine Pixel 9 Pro Fold main screen costs $1,199, which is the same price as a brand-new iPhone 16 Pro Max and is more expensive than the Pixel 9 Pro XL. With that being said, other components are available at a more reasonable price, like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's batteries.

Fixit now lists Pixel 9 Pro Fold repair parts, with the inner display replacement priced higher than a brand-new iPhone 16 Pro Max due to its complex design.

Spare parts for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold are now listed on iFixit, making repairs easier, albeit highlighting how expensive these repairs can be.
