Nexstar Stations Dropped from Altice USA’s Optimum Cable Systems
IRVING, Texas— Following failed negotiations for a new retransmission consent agreement, 63 local TV stations in 42 markets owned by Nexstar Media Group were blacked out on Altice USA’s Optimum-branded cable systems around the country. The blackout began at 5 p.m. on Jan. 10 and also included Nexstar’s national cable news network, NewsNation.
Nexstar Media Group, Inc. reaches a deal with Altice/Optimum
AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Officials with Nexstar Media Group, Inc. announced that it has reached a deal with Altice/Optimum. According to Nexstar, KAMR stations are restored to their Optimum platform and all messaging has been removed. Nexstar added that it thanks its customers for their patience while they worked through that agreement.
WPIX/11 dropped from Optimum systems in new carriage dispute
WPIX/11 went dark in Optimum cable homes late Friday, when its parent company Altice pulled the station's signal from New York-area cable systems. Dozens of other stations owned by Ch. 11 parent Nexstar were also dropped by Altice, affecting some 4.6 million subscribers in 21 states.
Nexstar Outlets Go Dark on Altice’s Optimum in Carriage Dispute
Altice, which counts key cable systems in New York as part of its Optimum service, is also in a carriage dispute with MSG Networks, led by James L. Dolan, whose family used to operate Cablevision, which Altice purchased in 2015 for $17.7 billion. Altice USA is based in Long Island, New York.
