A person was killed on Market Street outside the Embarcadero BART station in Wednesday morning and the search for the suspect caused significant delays on the BART system.

SAN FRANCISCO — An apparent fatal stabbing outside a San Francisco BART station early Wednesday closed down the system during the morning commute, officials said. Media reports indicated that San Francisco police were investigating after the stabbing outside the Embarcadero station. Inquiries to the department were not returned immediately.

BART trains on the San Francisco line were running behind ... a man was found fatally stabbed around 5:45 a.m. at Market and Main streets. "SFPD was on scene first, and they located a man in the street who would have been stabbed," Elias said.

At least one person was stabbed to death early Wednesday morning near the Embarcadero BART station. The fire department reported the stabbing just before 6 a.m. Police shut down the BART station temporarily to look for the attacker.
