General Motors is edging toward securing a place on the Formula One grid as early as 2026 when the field could expand to 11 teams.

It was a surprising decision, particularly because the FIA had already approved the team themselves after a lengthy open bidding process. Now, the Associated Press reports that the decision may be reversed — and the GM-backed team may be cleared for an entry in just a matter of weeks.
