Following Hoda Kotb's departure from Today's fourth hour earlier this month, the morning show has been renamed Today with Jenna & Friends and sees Jenna Bush Hager leading the way.

Kotb hosted Today ‘s fourth-hour with Bush Hager from 2019 until her departure from NBC on January 10, 2025. She previously hosted with Kathie Lee Gifford from 2008 to 2019. According to the Daily Mail insider, Kotb has given her seal of approval to Johansson as her replacement.

After watching Jenna Bush Hager as host with others instead of Hoda Kotb, many viewers called for a permanent change to Jenna's show.

Following Hoda Kotb's departure from Today, NBC rebranded the fourth hour of the show, which Kotb had co-hosted alongside Jenna Bush Hager, as Today with Jenna & Friends, with Bush Hager welcoming a rotating crop of guest hosts until a permanent one is named.

The former first daughter’s new show kicked off the following week, with actresses Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, Keke Palmer and Michelle Buteau stopping by to fill in as Bush Hager’s co-hosts. Actress Scarlett Johansson also signed on to tackle co-hosting duties for the show’s second week.

Jenna Bush Hager has revealed some of the friends who will be joining her as guest co-hosts on the new TODAY with Jenna & Friends. “It’s going to be our month of wonder women,” Jenna said at the beginning of January.
