A fire broke out on the hillside near Gilman Drive and Via Alicante in La Jolla Thursday afternoon, according to the Fire-Rescue Department, leading to quick evacuations.
The fire started just after 2 p.m. near Gilman Drive and Via Alicante. Several homes in the area were threatened by the flames.
