The upcoming one-year anniversary of the deadly terror attack on Israel by Hamas and continued Middle East turmoil could serve as motivators for acts of violence by extremists, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security said in a joint public announcement Friday.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued a warning ahead of the one-year-anniversary next week of the Hamas attacks on Israel.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s 2025 Homeland Threat Assessment warns that “Over the next year, the terrorism threat environment in the Homeland will remain high.”

The statement said synagogues and mosques “present attractive targets for violent attacks or for hoax threats by a variety of threat actors.”
