As the search for Elizabeth Pollard continued for a second day, those involved in the effort say they reached a point where they could no longer safely send rescuers down because of the integrity of the mine underground.

First responders in Westmoreland County are searching for a 64-year-old woman who reportedly fell in a 30-foot sinkhole in Unity Township.

Pollard’s 5-year-old granddaughter, who was not injured, was found in Pollard’s vehicle parked at a nearby restaurant, according to the stories. Police said the girl fell asleep in the car and her grandmother never returned. Police discovered the sinkhole about 20 feet from Pollard’s vehicle.
