Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) eight MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday visited Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata condemning the arrest of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Earlier on Tuesday, Adhikari along with other BJP members protested outside the Legislative Assembly against the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das by Dhaka Police on charges of sedition. Suvendu Adhikari has called upon the govt to stop issuing visas to Bangladeshis.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari led a protest march to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in the city.

BJP leaders and party workers including West Bengal Assembly LoP Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday held a protest march to the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata against the arrest of ISKCON Bangladesh priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari by Dhaka police.

Amid escalating violence against Hindus and the arrest of priest Chinmoy Krishna Das, a petition has been submitted to the Bangladesh High Court seeking a ban on the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote, was arrested at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday while traveling to Chattogram for a rally.

The arrest of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh has brought the spotlight on the plight of Hindus amid escalating communal tensions post the August 5 coup. Das, accused of sedition, was leading protests against atrocities on minorities.

The Bangladesh high court has asked the government to take immediate measures to address the situation, which has raised concerns over the safety of Hindus.
