World number one Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the US Open mixed doubles, organizers said on Tuesday. Sinner retired from Monday's Cincinnati Open final against Carlos Alcaraz due to illness and his participation in the doubles alongside Katerina Siniakova had been in doubt.
The No. 1-ranked Sinner, the defending champion in singles at Flushing Meadows, was supposed to compete in mixed doubles with Katerina Siniakova.
World no. 2 Carlos Alcaraz hit the US Open complex less than 24 hours after conquering the Cincinnati Masters final over Jannik Sinner. Carlos would usually not rush his New York arrival this much after lifting a notable trophy.
