Storm Bert is set to hit the north over the weekend, bringing with it strong winds and rain to follow on from this week’s snow and ice.The Met Office has issued two additional weather warnings for Friday and Saturday following an earlier yellow alert for snow and icy conditions for today into tomorrow.

The second named storm of the season is forecast to bring snow, rain and strong winds to parts of NI this weekend with wind gusts of up to 70mph expected in some areas. Heavy snowfall could bring further disruption to parts of the country while heavy rain is also likely, especially in western parts.

Flood warnings are still in place across England and Wales following Storm Bert - as fresh weather warnings were issued with more heavy rain forecast. A severe "danger to life" flood warning remains for the River Nene in Northamptonshire after a caravan park was submerged for the third time this year.
