The newest baby sloth at Zoo Atlanta officially has a name. Zoo Atlanta's infant Hoffman's two-toed sloth was born on Aug. 9. Meet Rolo! The newborn's name is in line with its parents' sweets/chocolate-themed names.

Rolo is also the first male sloth born in Zoo Atlanta in its 135-year history. His sister, Olivia, who is more than a year old, is moving to another habitat accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to have her own offspring.

The name "Rolo" pays homage to his parents, mother Nutella and his father Cocoa. "Rolo" was born on Aug. 9, 2024, and he is the sloth's second child, but the first male sloth born at Zoo Atlanta. "Rolo" is a "Hoffman's two-toed sloth," which faces threats in the wild.

ATLANTA - Zoo Atlanta's newest baby sloth now has a name, Meet Rolo. The zoo's Sloth Care Team picked the name out from nearly 2,000 submissions from the public. The infant Hoffman's two-toed sloth's name carries on a sweet tradition. His mother's name is Nutella and his father's name is Cocoa.
