Matt Cardona has a new opponent for GCW’s “Highest In The Room 3” event. Ricky Starks made an appearance at GCW Dream On last weekend, and a match against Matt Cardona was announced a short time later.

AEW star Ricky Starks has been absent from TV appearances for months, sparking speculation among fans about his potential departure from the promotion. He appeared on AEW television since March 2024.

Currently, Starks is still signed to an AEW contract, and outside of GCW, none of his other appearances have been publicly cancelled, such as his involvement with HOG's Watch the Throne event in Chicago next January.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has reported that the decision was made by AEW to pull Starks from his upcoming GCW dates earlier today (November 26). While there are a variety of reasons as to why this has happened, one of the main ones was down to recent comments by GCW staple Effy which were directed at AEW President Tony Khan's father Shad.

GCW’s Brett Lauderdale isn’t sure where AEW stands right now. Ricky Starks appeared at GCW’s Dream On event over the weekend. It was later announced that he would have a match with Matt Cardona at a future event.
