Heading into Week 13, there had been zero playoff berths clinched so far in the NFL this year, but that changed on Friday.  Thanks to their wild 19-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) became the first team to clinch a playoff spot in 2024.

A total of 14 teams -- seven from each conference -- make the NFL playoffs. The playoff field in each conference consists of four division winners and three wild-card teams. The Chiefs are the only team to clinch a playoff spot entering Sunday's Week 13 action. One team in each conference has been eliminated from playoff contention so far:

"Had the clock been running at the snap, then by rule an illegal shift would convert to a false start," a league spokesperson said. "Since the clock was stopped (spike on the 2nd down play), an illegal shift is a live ball foul."
