Both Israel and Hezbollah faced accusations Monday of breaching the truce, which took effect on Wednesday to end a war that killed thousands of people in Lebanon and sparked mass displacements on both sides of the border.

JERUSALEM — Hezbollah fired into a disputed border zone held by Israel on Monday after multiple Israeli strikes inside Lebanon since a cease-fire took hold last week. The militant group said the volley, its first during the truce, was a warning shot in response to what it called repeated Israeli violations.

As the truce appeared to largely hold, a deal appeared far away in Gaza, where an Israeli strike killed dozens, according to a rescue group.
