That means riders using SEPTA Key, PATCO, or contactless payments now pay $2.50 for Metro services like subways, buses, and trolleys, up from $2. Regional Rail fares also climbed, with increases ranging from 25 cents to $2 depending on the station and payment method.

The 7.5% fare increase, which took effect Sunday, was approved by the SEPTA board on Nov. 21. It is expected to add $14.4 million in annual revenue. SEPTA last raised fares in 2017.

The change means SEPTA Key cardholders and people who pay with credit and debit cards would no longer be charged $2 for a ride and instead pay the full fare of $2.50.

Be prepared to pay more to ride on SEPTA.
