A fire at a data centre at India's largest telecom carrier Reliance Jio caused a nationwide network outage for its users on Tuesday, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

A data center outage has brought down Reliance Jio Internet services for customers in India. According to a report from Reuters, which cited a source with "direct knowledge of the matter," the cause of the outage was a fire in one of Reliance's data centers.

Downdetector, which monitors outages, registered over 10,000 reports of network errors from Jio customers, indicating a significant disruption, as the platform only reports incidents when the number of problem reports far exceeds the typical volume for that time of day.

Reliance Jio faced a major network outage due to a fire at one of its data centers, impacting mobile and broadband services nationwide. The issue has been resolved, with full service restoration confirmed by the company.

According to Downdetector, a platform that keeps track of real-time service disruptions worldwide, there were around 10,369 Jio users complaining about network outage at around 12PM. The website also reported that about 62 per cent of these reports were about “No signal” while 20 per cent complained about internet connectivity issues.
