More than 3 million homes and businesses were in the dark by early Thursday as Milton was exiting the eastern coast of Florida.

Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida's west coast as a Category 3 hurricane Wednesday night. The monster storm roared ashore with life-threatening storm surge, powerful winds and flooding rains.

The storm spared Tampa, but flooded streets and homes throughout western Florida. Power outages were widespread, and deaths have been reported from severe weather.
