Named the Hughes fire, the blaze was reported just after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the area of Lake Hughes Road and the 5 Freeway and close to Castaic Lake, according to Cal Fire.

The Hughes Fire in the Lake Castaic area has now burned more than 10,000 acres and is 14% contained, as more than 30,000 residents have been evacuated and thousands more under evacuation warnings.
