NASA’s newest space telescope, called SPHEREx, finally got off the ground this week, after a series of delays that had stalled its launch since late February. From low-Earth orbit, it will gather data on millions of stars and galaxies—and search for the ingredients of life.

Spherex (the Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer) will survey hundreds of millions of galaxies and "their combined cosmic glow" to give scientists new "insights into the universe's evolution since the Big Bang ", said The Independent.

The SPHEREx telescope will create the most colorful map of the cosmos, while the four satellites of the PUNCH mission track the evolution of the solar wind in three dimensions.

SPHEREx begins its mission to scan hundreds of millions of galaxies, while companion satellites track solar winds.

NASA has launched a new space telescope, SPHEREx, into orbit to complement the observations of the James Webb Telescope. It was launched from Vandenberg Base in California aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and has already begun its mission.
