Heavy lake effect snow coming for Northwest Indiana

A series of storms will travel from central Canada to the Midwest and Northeast into early next week. Each storm will bring areas of steady snow, while repeated surges of cold air will produce rounds of lake-effect snow and create the risk of rapid freeze-ups.

Lake-effect snow: Up to 3 inches expected Friday-Saturday along shoreline
Cold air will stick around through the rest of the workweek, but there is a gradual warmup in store for the weekend. Before temperatures in the 20s return, lake-effect snow chances will be back Friday and Saturday.
A winter weather advisory also is in effect for Lorain, Medina, Summit and Portage counties from 1 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Monday. Those areas could see 3 to 8 inches of snow from a combination of widespread snowfall and periodic lake-effect snow.
