The death toll from exploding pagers in Lebanon now stands at 12, two of them children. Some 3,000 people are said to have been injured in Tuesday's attack involving pagers used by hundreds of members of Hezbollah.

The pagers that exploded Tuesday featured branding by Taiwanese wireless device maker Gold Apollo, but were license-manufactured by a little-known Hungarian firm.

Hundreds of pagers carried by Hezbollah members blew up nearly simultaneously in an attack that tops a series of covert assassinations and cyber-attacks in the region.

At least eight people have been killed and more than 2,700 people have been injured in Lebanon by exploding pagers. Experts say the blasts point toward a supply chain compromise, not a cyberattack.

The AR-924 pager, advertised as "rugged," contains a rechargeable lithium battery and could receive texts of up to 100 characters. It also claimed to have up to 85 days of battery life, crucial in Lebanon, where electricity outages are commonplace following years of economic collapse.

Israel allegedly set up a shell company that has supplied Hezbollah with pagers since 2022, according to a US media report. Pagers were used in an explosives attack in Lebanon on Tuesday, which left 12 members of the terror group dead and thousands injured.
