One of the main connections between Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky could be closed for weeks after a fire under the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge damaged its steel structure, officials said Friday.

Its removal comes as Cedar Point has recently closed other attractions in that section of the park, including Snake River Falls and Snake River Expedition.

The heaviest damage was on the bridge's southbound lanes leading to Kentucky and will take weeks to repair, said Matt Bruning, a spokesperson with the Ohio Department of Transportation.
