The National Hurricane Center on Thursday increased odds that a developing system could head into the Gulf of Mexico and become a tropical depression or storm — while it also kept tabs on two systems in the Atlantic.

A large but weak storm spinning in the Caribbean has potential to develop by the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is watching some active areas for possible cyclonic development over the next seven days. One system, named “Invest 94L,” is forecast to bring an elevated chance for precipitation across the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this weekend.
